Lawn Slaves
The lawn care industry tells us that our lawns should be perfect, meaning entirely devoid of so-called weeds and insects. Their version of “perfect” yields a little ecosystem with about as much biodiversity as a parking lot.

Phil, I read this many years ago: “Do you know the difference between a weed and a flower? Answer: an opinion. I happen to agree with your opinion in today’s column. And you are so right – we aren’t going to be thinking about our lawn as we’re on our deathbeds. That’s so true for so many things we think we care about so passionately-But once we let go, our reward is Freedom.
